BIOTECH BOOTCAMP

KA210-ADU – Small-scale partnerships in adult education

About the project

EU health policy focuses on prevention, equal chances of good health and quality healthcare for all and tackling serious EU-wide health threats. A population in good health is also good for the economy, and therefore the Commission’s ambition is to ensure the accessibility, effectiveness, and resilience of health systems in the EU.

Purpose

The Biotech Bootcamp project is an educational program targeting adults within biotech and pharmaceutical fields. Within the project we addressed three topics. 1. Enterprise, industry, SMEs, and entrepreneurship; 2. Digital content, technologies, and practices; and 3. Physical and mental health, well-being.

The program was designed to provide start-ups with knowledge, know-how, networking, and mentoring to facilitate the best start possible on their start-up journey while increasing digital readiness and reducing the environmental impact of the start-ups. In addition, we want to improve the competences of business support organizations and other adult education staff. Also, we are addressing digital transformation through development of digital readiness, resilience, and capacity and second, improving the availability of high-quality learning opportunities for adults.

Short description

Biomedical start-ups play a crucial role in improving human health. Using their innovative solutions to develop new diagnostic tools and therapeutic options as well as new personalized drugs they are key driver in pharmaceutical industry innovation. Founding a biomedical start-up is an extremely high-risk venture. The attrition rate is high, less than 5% of drug discovery projects ever make it to the market. Brining new diagnostic tools, treatments and drugs to the market requires long development times associated with immense costs and a high degree regulation.

The program provides biotech start-ups with knowledge, know-how, networking, and mentoring to facilitate the best start possible on their start-up journey while increasing digital readiness and reducing the environmental impact of the biotech start-ups.

In addition, the program improves competences of business support organizations and other adult education staff. We are addressing digital transformation through development of digital readiness, resilience, and capacity and second, improving the availability of high-quality learning opportunities for adults.
