SmiLe is a leading venture hub that specializes in advancing life science startups from concept to commercialization. Our dynamic ecosystem connects entrepreneurs with seasoned business coaches, industry experts, investors, and sponsors, fostering a collaborative environment that fuels innovation and accelerates business growth.

At SmiLe, we offer comprehensive support through every stage of entrepreneurship. Our offerings include tailored incubation and acceleration programs, a variety of educational courses, and access to top-tier facilities. Members benefit from expert business coaching, cutting-edge laboratories, coworking spaces and access to a global network of industry connections and funding opportunities.

To date, our flagship incubator program has supported over 100 startups, facilitating their collective acquisition of more than EUR 841 million in venture capital and contributing to 21 successful IPOs. Recognized as one of Europe’s leading startup hubs in 2024 by the Financial Times and Statista, SmiLe continues to be a catalyst for innovation in the life sciences sector.

We do not take equity in the companies we support. Working on a no-equity, non-profit basis enables us to build a neutral platform for launching health innovation into the world.

Located in Medicon Village, a life science cluster in Lund, Sweden, SmiLe facilitates startups looking to develop next-generation healthcare and life science technologies.

In evaluating what sustainability means to SmiLe Incubator, we reviewed how our mission, operation and activities reflect the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) published by the United Nations (UN) in the Agenda 2030.

We were happy to find out that the presented SDGs were embedded in everything we do.

The European Spallation Source

The European Spallation Source is one of the largest science infrastructure projects being built in Europe today. Designed to generate neutron beams for science, ESS will benefit a broad range of research, from life science to engineering materials, from heritage conservation to magnetism.

MAX IV Laboratory
